Forty Thieves is a new board game using playing cards, It will soon be featured in pagat.com (invented games section) and also in Gamerules.com

It is a deceptively simple strategic game that is fun to play but a challenge to master. Ideally for 2 players, but can be adapted to 3-4. Age group is 8 up.

The full list of videos I have made is here:

Episode 1 (How to Play)

Episode 2 (Sample Game 1)

Episode 3 (Sample Game 2)

Episode 4: (Sample Game 3)

Episode 5: (Odds and Ends)

Hope you enjoy this wonderful game.

Quick and simple, I particularly like the fact that you can literally
just scribble the board on a blank piece of paper as needed, and use
anything for the playing pieces. I shall playtest it with the g/f in
the pub tonight or tomorrow with the additional rule that you must
buy a beer when you play a square number (even if it's 2x8).

We are no longer hunters and nomads. No longer awed and frightened, as we have
gained some understanding of the world in which we live. As such, we can cast
aside childish remnants from the dawn of our civilization.

It's a really fun game, we played it all evening last night.
Even tried some variations. We prefered to use jacks rather
than 10s for the thief cards, which fits the theme just as
well as jacks are knaves. Seeing the numbers under the counters
we were using was tricky, I propose using something like
coloured curtain rings, or translucent perspex pieces.
